- During our monthly Mission Update one Sunday, Sylvia told
the congregation that the Women's Group had decided this year
to not give their regular donation to Church World Service to
buy blankets and tools. Instead we were going to buy a
well that would give an entire village in Africa fresh water,
and all we had to do was raise $5,000! That was more than 10
times the normal contribution we send and quite a challenge for
our small church! We put our spare change in "Build a Well"
empty cat food treat jars and raised about $1000 in 6 weeks.

- Shirley (pictured) thought why don't we make a cookbook!
Our church, which holds monthly Pot Luck dinners, has many great
cooks. Twenty-five years ago the church put together a cookbook,
and many of the contributors still attend First Baptist. We thought
it fitting to do a 25th Anniversary Cookbook, not only to raise
money for our well project, but to acknowledge retired Pastor
Floyd & Harriet Carter, Mark & Jane Marstaller, Bonnie
Wheeler, Sylvia Rose, Elinor Thomas, Carolyn Morse, Bertha Rideout
and Harold & Peg Lapham, for over 25 years of service to
First Baptist Church of Brunswick. THANK YOU.
